Physical Description Scion is slim, but still curvaceous enough to look like a woman. Something she despised when she was in her early teens.

Now, she is happier in her own skin, but she still tends to minimize her looks by wearing dark colors and simple clothes -- more out of a lifetime of needing to be unnoticed than anything else. She likes to wear blouses and vests whenever possible.

She's starting to come out of her shell, but she is still shy around new people and still tends to be more of an observer.

Personal History Scion does not know where she was born or who her parents were. She has vague memories of a man and a woman who smiled a lot and called her "Scion," but she was very small when her parents died and she was left alone to fend for herself. She was taken in by a gang of kids who lived on the streets of Serenity, the capital city of Carenna III. They taught her how to survive, how to pick pockets, how to steal and later, how to use a computer to get information and to program it. She found she had a knack for computers and their language and was usually the one sent to break into a computer to get information on government policies, where it was safe to live, where and when a government raid was going to happen, and how to get fake accounts and credits to buy clothing for the growing children in her "family."

One of the older boys taught her how to be a street magician and she would often get money from her "tricks." As she grew into her preteens she preferred this to stealing, although she kept up on her pickpocketing, but only to impress tourists. She also found that she could tell what other people were thinking and she would use this to help her get more money from passersby. She also continued to learn what she could about computers. She would often stay up late at night to hack into the ain computer database to study, teaching herself to read and write.

When she was fourteen, the government decided to join the Federation and created a task force to round up all the street orphans and lock them away in work houses because it would look bad and hinder their chances at getting accepted.

Those who caused trouble and were known to be thieves were thrown in jail. The older boys were sent into the fields to do manual labor. Others were sent to work in factories or to wash dishes.

At first Scion was put with the boys as she always wore baggy pants and over-sized shirts to hide her gender, but when she refused to shower with the other boys and tried to run away, the officials quickly discovered her secret and shuffled her off to be with the girls.

Scion was put to work cleaning rooms at a hotel in Serenity, a job she hated, but it exposed her to people of other planets and to knowledge of other worlds. She would often spend her breaks devouring anything she could get her hands on to learn more.

She was fascinated with the stories she read and heard about other planets and she yearned to get away from her home.

One day she was caught reading on a break and accused of stealing the PADD. Her avowals that she'd found it laying on a table were brushed off and she was sent to a holding facility to await "trial." Scion knew that there would be no arguing and no justice, so as soon as she had a chance, she picked the lock, went to the nearest spaceport and stowed away on the first ship available.

She was caught the next day, but she convinced the Captain to let her work for her passage. Scion quickly learned how to help around the ship, doing odd jobs at first, then working with the computer.

Scion listened to the passengers talk and, with the help of her telepathic ability, found it easy to pick up languages. With the Captain's approval, she began to study the languages, history and cultures of the different people of the Federation. Within a year, she could speak four languages like a native and had begun to study in the native language of that species. She also began to take university courses to help her in her learning.

She still said nothing to the Captain or any of the crew about being able to read people's thoughts. No one she'd ever met had that ability. But as her studies advanced from Terran to Vulcan to Romulan and then Bajoran, she began to realize that her parents were from a telepathic species. A visit to the doctor confirmed that she was, indeed, Betazoid. He was surprised that she was unaware of her lineage and gave her medical texts to help her learn about her inherent traits.

At nineteen she had a degree in history, linguistics and computer science. But it wasn't enough for Scion. She wanted to learn more. So she left the ship and settled on Betazed so she could learn how to control her telepathic abilities.

For two years she studied, taking the opportunity to continue practicing mimicry and slight-of-hand. She got a job with an investigative firm, going undercover to gather information. It was during a particularly successful job that she met someone from Starfleet Intelligence who encouraged her to join. It sounded like a great opportunity, so Scion applied, with his assistance. To her surprise, she was accepted.

Her specialty is information gathering as it makes the best use of her abilities and gives her opportunity to continue learning.

Shortly after she transferred to the USS Pathfinder, she was recruited by Admiral Maximilian Hunter to join his Covert Infiltration Division (CID) at its new base on Tiberius X.
