Mission:
On Typhon Station
Location: Johnson Quarters
Anna left Raven's quarters and made her way back to her own. She made sure operations was covered for the rest of the day and called out sick. She moved into the kitchen and pulled out the bottle of Irish whiskey she had there and poured herself a glass and moved to sit on the couch. Her eyes and face were red with the anger from her encounter with Raven. She sat nursing the glass in her hand and once she finished she moved to the coffee pot and poured a cup adding Kahlua and some Irish whiskey to it and some cream. She then moved to the cooler and pulled out her own brownie cheese cake which was half gone already. It was why she knew Raven would like it.
Maybe it was a mistake telling Ian to talk to Raven but it was the only way Anna could know his feelings were genuine. Now Raven hated her too or at least that was how she saw it. Anna dug into the cheesecake eating it along with the Irish Cream coffee. Between the whiskey and the cheese cake once she was done Anna made her way to the sofa and lay down on it and cried herself to sleep.
[Some time later (After Ian stopped by Raven's)]
Ian stopped in front of Anna's quarters ad leaned against the wall opposite her door. He'd wandered the base for quite a while after leaving Raven and now he felt both physically and emotionally drained. He wasn't sure if he should try talking to Anna but he didn't know what else to do. He looked at the door for several minutes, trying to make up his mind. Finally, he took a deep breath and stepped across the corridor, pressing the chime.
Anna sat up on the couch and rubbed her eyes. She knew they were probably puffy from falling asleep while crying but she moved across to the door anyway way and keyed it open. There stood Ian with a swollen jaw. Anna blinked a moment and stepped aside and motioned for him to come in before she moved to the kitchen for a regular cup of coffee. "I'm guessing things didn't go so well." Anna said setting a cup on the counter for Ian as she poured one for herself.
"That has to be one of the greatest understatements of the century," Ian said as he rubbed his jaw. "She's very upset, but I can't really blame her."
"I know I got a bit of the venom earlier myself." Anna said pushing the mug toward him fixed the way he had drunk the coffee before. "I'm sorry I guess this is kind of my fault." Anna said.
"No, it's not," Ian said to her. "This is my fault. You two shouldn't be mad at each other. You should be mad at me."
"I'm not mad at her. I never said I was. She is hurt and when I tried to talk to her she started reading my thoughts and emotions and that is why I was angry. That has nothing to do with you its all her." Anna said then picked up her mug to take a sip.
"I'm sorry I caused you and Raven so much pain," Ian said, staring at the cup of coffee in front of him.
"Why did you do it?" Anna asked, "I mean you had to know the feelings were there for one before you started having feelings for the other one." She said trying to understand.
"I don't know, Anna," Ian said lamely. "By the time everything started getting serious I didn't know how to back out of it."
"Letting us know we weren't the only ones would have been a start." Anna said.
"You're right," Ian said to her. "All I can say is I'm sorry."
"I'm torn right now Ian. I just don't know what to do." Anna said.
"I'll be leaving with the Marines soon," he said to her. "That will give you time to think."
"But for how long?" Anna asked.
"I have no idea how long the mission will last," Ian said to her.
Anna simply nodded not sure what else to say right now as she let out a deep sigh.
"I'll talk to you when I get back," he said to her. He looked at her for a moment then walked to the door.
Jana stepped through the doors and almost ran into Ian. "Oh hi," was all she said.
Anna looked up at him and nodded, "Stay safe," She said.
"Hello, Jana," Ian said with a smile. "Take care of yourself, Anna," he added as he walked out.
Anna reached forward and recycled Ian's mug.
Jana moved to sit near her sister. "Why do men have to make things so complicated?" Jana asked.
"If women could figure that out it would make things easier for everyone." Anna answered.
