Mission: Winds of Change
Location: Sickbay

Selith walked into sickbay, still holding a green-tinted rag, and looked around for the doctor.

Basil was just walking out of his office when he noticed the Romulan officer. He began to smile and then saw the rag. Grabbing his medical tricorder, he made it to his new patient's side in a single bound. "Good Lord! What happened?" He had his scanner out and operating even as he spoke.

"Nothing to write home about, Doctor...not that I can." Selith replied, tossing the rag in a nearby bio-hazard bin. "Just a random inspection that turned up more than was desired...for some parties. They seemed to have shown their displeasure. The medic said i should come get checked out, just in case."

"Well, I know your Vulcan cousins' penchant for stoicism, but you don't need to be all that brave with me." He looked at his scanner. "This time, you were lucky. It looks like a knife wound. Not too serious, but enough to cause you some serious inconveniences if you don't get it sealed and regenerated." He took the Anabolic Protoplaser out of his kit, and began repairing the underlying arteries and smaller blood vessels, then closed the fat over them. Then swapping the tool for a Dermal Regenerator, he carefully closed the wound. "There. That should do you for a while. Try not to stretch it for a few hours or it'll come apart." he began putting his tools away. "So what were they so unhappy about you discovering?"

"Some electronic equipment and latinum. They hid them in tomatoes. I'm afraid the promenade-level restaurants may be low on fresh tomatoes." Selith said, shrugging.

Basil grinned. "The cleverness of the criminal element never ceases to amaze me. How did you discover their ruse?"

"By accident really. I have been...reestablishing...protocols. I decided to enforce some logistical rules, and found a nice surprise." Selith said, shrugging. "I had to keep true to my Romulan roots."

"Understandable. Should I expect more patients?" Basil looked at the recently closed knife wound.

"No, it was an isolated incident. I got the spirited one." Selith said, keeping still while the doctor examined his handiwork.

"Well, if you say so. Just try not to get spitted like a Christmas Goose next time." Basil smiled at the Romulan. "I think you're fit to return to light duty tomorrow. You should be ready for most activities by then. Come to think of it, I'm surprised you didn't lose more blood than you did. At any rate, you're dismissed to your quarters and excused from duty until your next scheduled shift."

"Thanks. I've been meaning to read a new Earth classic anyway. Something about Counting Monte Cristos I think." Selith said, with complete seriousness.

"Ah! the Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Excellent book. If you need any help with the cultural references, just let me know." He grinned at the Romulan. "Enjoy!"

After Selith was out of earshot, Basil couldn't suppress a chuckle. "Counting Monte Cristos, indeed! An altogether likeable fellow, that green one." He returned to his office to close up shop for the night.
