Fannin wasn't happy about the message but there really wasn't anything he could do about it. He was very happy for Jack and would sorely miss him around the Typhon while he was gone. He was fairly certain that commander Tolren was unaware of his selection to the University of Moscow Staff war College and would be very excited about going to the prestigious School.
Yeoman James entered with the Commander..
Jack entered, having simply had a message to speak to the Captain. He didn't have a clue why he'd been summoned but then it was a regular occurrence for the Executive Officer and his Captain to get together.
"Good morning sir," he said as he entered.
"Morning Jack, please get something to drink and have a seat. I have some very good news for you."
Jack collected a cup of the Captain's brewing coffee before sitting down in front of the desk. "Good news?"
"I have received confirmation of your acceptance to the University of Moscow. Congratulations. I don't need to tell you that this institution is rather exclusive in it's candidates and has only excepted three Starfleet officers into it's programs in the last ten years"
"Moscow, that's incredible, I thought that application had been forgotten about," Jack replied, somewhat stunned, he simply held his coffee to his lips.
"I will hate to lose you here but this is a career move you must take. Those who graduate are on a fast track for the admiralty. I want you on that path Jack it's important to me."
"Then I'll definitely go sir, are you sure you can manage without me? When do I need to leave?" He was asking questions randomly as they popped into his head.
"You have a twenty four hour window to get out of here. We'll do fine, Commander Johnson will be filling in for you while your getting educated. I wish you much luck and if you need anything just let me know."
"Thank you, sir, I'll be back before you know it, now if you'll excuse me, I think I should pack."
With that Jack rose, left his coffee and headed out of Fannin's office. It was a shame to leave such an interesting posting so early on but this was a move he had to make, and he sincerely hoped he would be back soon, as he had said.
