Raven was curious to find out what Karma had learned about OreCo on Tiberius IV.
So, once the Orion had docked and its crew had begun to move off the ship, she sent Karma a message to meet with her.
Karma walked through the corridors and looked for the right office. A moment later he saw the one he was looking for and stepped inside. "I'm looking for Commander Adams," he said aloud, hoping someone could tell him where she was.
Raven stepped out of her office. "I'm Commander Adams." She recognized his face from his personnel file. "You must be Lieutenant Sinclair. Come in, please."
Karma looked at the woman and nodded as he turned to follow her.
"Have a seat," she told him. "What can you tell me about your trip to Tiberius IV?"
"It was a disaster," Karma stated flatly as he sat down.
That caught her interest. "How was it a disaster?"
"We crashed on the planet and had to try to survive long enough to get back to the ship," Karma said to her.
Raven had read the report, but it lacked a lot of details. "Why were you unable to examine the sand? Why not land on the surface? I mean, the report says the sand was too soft, but how do you define too soft?"
"The sand was like water," Karma told her. "Anything that landed on the sand sank immediately."
"Did you bring back samples?" If not, she'd have to find some way to get a sample. She wanted to know what this sand was.
"There should be a few samples with the science department," Karma said. "If not then there should be enough sand in the boots and clothes that I wore to the surface."
Raven nodded, slightly disappointed. She'd hoped for more. "Did you get anything on the OreCo freighter? Anything except that it's buried under a sea of sand?"
"I didn't have a chance to do much of anything," Karma admitted, looking down at his hands. "If we can find a way to get past the sand then we could learn more."
Raven nodded. That's what she figured, but she'd hoped there would be more. "Okay. Thank you, Lieutenant. I appreciate your time." At least she would have time to continue investigating after the murders were solved.
"I'm sorry I couldn't have found more information, Commander," Karma said as he stood up.
Raven stood as well. "You can't always guarantee what you'll find," she assured him. "I can always organize another trip to Tiberius IV if it becomes necessary," she added with a shrug. "I appreciate the information, Lieutenant. Thank you."
"You're welcome, Commander," Karma said to her. "If you need anything else just let me know."
"I will, thanks," she said. She watched as the Lieutenant left her office, then began to enter the information into her computer.
