Mission: On Typhon Station

[OLD]

Ian looked at her and smiled. "I'm always up for camping. I've actually considered taking a little vacation and finding some mountains on a nearby planet." He ate a little more of the food and said, "If you don't want to wait we could go tonight."

[MEW]

She considered that while she ate another bite of food. "We could... I'll leave that up to you." She took another sip of her wine. "If you ever want company when you go to the mountains, let me know. It's something I've thought about, too." Right now, the idea of camping was appealing. She always relaxed when she was camping and came back feeling rejuvenated.

"Now I want to go," he said with a chuckle. He ate a couple more bites then said, "I think we should do it tonight."

Raven looked at Ian and grinned. "Okay. Let's do it tonight."

"Enjoy your meal first," Ian said with a smile as he turned his attention to his food.

She was not one to let a good meal go to waste. She ate more of her pasta and asked. "What sort of camping do you normally do?"

"What I usually enjoy doing is hiking through the mountains," he said to her. "When it starts getting dark I look for a suitable campsite and set up camp."

"Ah," she said with a smile. "I like to find a nice place for a base camp and take day trips from there. I like being near a lake or river for fishing, maybe some cliffs to explore...." She finished her pasta and pushed her plate back, picking up her glass and sipping. "But then, there's a lot to be said about backpacking, too."

"I've had a lot of fun doing it your way," he said, nodding. "It's just not always easy to find an ideal place like that without having to share with a lot of other people with the same idea."

"You have a point," she said, nodding. "I don't like crowded sites, either. I much prefer going out far enough where I won't encounter people."

"I'll tell you what," he said with a smile. "We'll program a secluded area with a lake and some nearby cliffs so you won't get bored."

"You think I'll get bored?" she teased. "How about we do what you want as I chose the last two holodeck programs?"

"I was planning on it," he said with a wink. "Are you ready? Or would you like to have dessert first?"

"We can have dessert now, or get some to take with us," she suggested. Unfortunately, Raven wasn't one to skip dessert.

"Dessert here will be fine," Ian said with a nod. "It may get messy if we take it with us."

Raven almost said something, but changed her mind. "Okay."

Ian signaled for the waiter. "What are you in the mood for?" he asked as the waiter approached the table.

"Chocolate," she replied, grinning.

"I should have known," he said, shaking his head and smiling.

Raven just laughed and looked at the menu. "I think I'd like to try the near death by chocolate."

"That sounds good," Ian said with a smile as he indicated two orders to the waiter. "You wouldn't by any chance know of any suitable planets in the area to go camping on would you?'

"Tiberius V has some good spots. I haven't been there yet, but I've read the reports."

"Isn't that where the Orion went?" Ian asked.

"No. The Orion went to Tiberius IV. V is where the Federation is setting up some colonies and the Damron Group has a settlement."

"That's right," Ian said with a nod. "I'll have to check out Tiberius V when I have a chance."

Their dessert had arrived. Raven merely nodded as she dug into her chocolate gateau and cake, covered in a layer of chocolate.

Ian watched as Raven dug into her dessert and smiled. He'd never seen someone so passionate over a simple dessert. He thought about asking another question but decided against it. Who was he to come between her and her food? He smiled again and began eating his own food.

When she finished her dessert she sat back, watching Ian. She hadn't known Ian long, but already she found herself thinking about him at odd times of the day and night. She was really looking forward to spending more time with him.

Ian looked at her and smiled. He hadn't finished his dessert but her was full. "Ready?" he asked her.

"Whenever you are."

Ian nodded and stood up. He moved to stand beside her and extended his hand to her.

She took his hand and smiled as she stood. 'Where would you like to go now?" she asked as they walked out of the restaurant.

"Did you want to try camping on the holodeck or would you prefer waiting?" Ian asked her.

"I'm good either way. As I said, tonight is whatever you want to do," she replied.

"Are you up for it?" he asked, "or would you prefer to just go back to your quarters and watch a movie?"

"I'm up for it," she assured him. "I can be ready in five minutes, or we can do it later. As long as we go, I don't mind when we go."

"Then let's go now," he said, leading her out of the restaurant.

"After you," she said, following.

Ian nodded and weaved through the crowds to the nearest turbolift. "Do you need anything before we go?"

She looked down at her dress. "A change of clothes, but that should be it."

Ian looked down at her dress and smiled. "You don't want to try traipsing through the mountains dressed like that?" he teased.

"Walking through the moonlight, yes. Hiking? No," she chuckled.

"Would you rather just go back to your place and relax?" he asked.

"I'm fine with whatever you want, Ian," she assured him. "This time, you decide what we do. I'm happy doing either."

Ian looked at her for a moment and said, "I just think it would be a shame to waste such a beautiful dress on so short an evening."

That made Raven laugh. "Well then, what would you prefer?" she asked, grinning impishly.

"Your place or mine," Ian said, trying to keep a straight face.

"If you want to relax and spend some time together, we can go to your place. If you want me to change so we can head out again, we'll go to mine."

"My place it is then," he said, grabbing her hand and leading her onto the lift.
