Mission: The Enemy Within: Typhon is Missing!
Location: Tiberius IV

ON

The shuttle landed on the rocks next to the one with the second away team. If there were two shuttles, then they could get off the planet if a sandstorm arose. Transporters could only work if the sky was clear. As the sand interfered with sensors and scans, transporting became impossible under those circumstances. They were fortunate the sky was clear and the sun shining.

Damion stood over Ronnie, looking out the front window towards their destination. "What do you have on scanners, Lieutenant?"

"Scans show the bridge is on the rocks. From what I can tell there are no life signs."

She shut down the science station, grabbed her backpack and headed for the shuttle door, eager to see what she could find on the Columbia.

Eamon had his senses directed at the Columbia and somewhat blocked the emotions coming from the rest of the away team. He hoped he could at least find out if the crew were still alive but distance was a limitation on Inaran empathy.

So far nothing certain but he continued to 'feel' around for the survivors, Eamon didn't want to think about the possibility that there were no one alive. He waited for the rest of the away team to be ready.

The sun reflecting off the sand was almost blinding in its brilliance. Ronnie had the foresight to bring goggles to protect her eyes from the sun and sand. She quickly donned them, then had another look around. The shuttle sat atop a large rocky cliff with a short but steep climb down to the sand below. Half on the rocks and half in the sand like the broken hull of the USS Columbia. The bridge seemed to have landed squarely against a rocky outcropping, which may have saved it from continuing into the sad itself. Fortunate, as no ships had yet to escape the sandy depths of this particular planet.

Ronnie looked at the rest of the team. "Ready?"

"Well if you've all finished your little discussion, maybe we can beam aboard?" Rachel said as she twirled her hyper-spanner around in her hand.

"Ready when you are," Marek announced as he too had the goggles and sand shoes on, though he lowered the goggles to hang around his neck. The Romulan hated sand and tapped his combadge. =^=Computer, transport the entire away team inside the Columbia.=^= He ordered the shuttles.

Eamon smirked and found the Romulan's urgency to get inside a little like vulnerability, kind of adorable, though it would be nice to get the rescue mission underway.

"Alright." Damion said as he picked up his tricorder and put it in its holster on his belt.. He then grabbed his retractable sword handle and tucked it into its holster on the other side. "Lets stay in contract, people. Run our scans, check out logs, and be careful. Any sign of danger, you give a holler." He looked around to the others as he spoke. "Remember to not wonder far from each other. If I have to I will start the buddy system. In which case, Lancaster is with me and the rest of you fight amongst yourselves."

The team materialized on the bridge. It was a mess with debris and sand everywhere. A male crew member lay half under a console. A hole next to the viewscreen was wide enough for a person to walk through. There seemed to be an opening in the rock beyond.

Ronnie looked around and signaled for the doctor to check the body while she went to the science station to access the computer.

"Beautiful vacation spot, ehh Ronnie?" Damion said softly as he looked around the bridge and pulled out his tricorder. Already he was getting a bad feeling. Like they were being watched, but the eyes were all around them. "You each have your assignments. Get to it and stay in constant contact. Log everything, no matter how insignificant."

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," she quoted. But she still found the stark sand and rock formations beautiful. She smiled softly at Damion before continuing her analysis of the science station.

After a while she closed her tricorder at called to Damion. "It looks like they suffered a systemic failure."

Marine Colonel Wilhelm Baron von Hackleburg couldn't believe his luck could get any worse. Crash land 2 days ago with his precious marines scattered all through the wreck. He was able to gather up a squad and a half which was good. He had them set to guard this protective little enclosure they found with a couple volunteers exploring the rat warren of caves this corridor was linked to. Those scouts haven't reported anything unusual except the cave system was vast. Supplies was a different matter, Wilhelm thought, they were short on everything and could only last out a couple more days before they had to start seriously thinking about foraging for anything. Defencively, Wilhelm thought they were better off. He had his full web gear and personal weapons minus his much loved BDU's and a few of his marines had all their gear and scrounging up weapons for the rest were easy enough. There were Arms Lockers everywhere on Starfleet vessels you just had to know where to look.

Gathering up his gear, Wilhelm moved to replace the sentry he put on detail to watch the entrance into this cavern in case rescue arrived or anything unpleasant decided to show itself intead. After waiting for an hour he could here voices coming from the corridor linking to the bridge of the Columbia. He poked his head around the corner and could see flashlights sweeping around on the other side and hear muffled voices but couldn't make them out or what language. Taking a photon grenade off his web gear, better safe then sorry he thought, he shouted down the little corridor in the rock. "IDENTIFY YOURSELVES!!!" Wilhelm made ready to arm the grenade just in case.
