Mission: Celebrate Culture
[CONTINUED]
[OLD]
"You could make a breakfast run ma'am, but good luck getting everyone to stop running around long enough for a proper breakfast. With everything going on my teams are back-filling the engineering personnel on lower priority but still important tasks. Now we've added inventories to our job list."
[NEW]
William was already looking to see which groups were available to assist with the inventory.
"Then we just have to split things up, Lieutenant Huxley. Or do you prefer Chief?" Rii'Na said as she approached the man. "Commander or Rii'Na works for me. I'm the new Executive Officer. I don't believe we have met. Maybe you could catch me up, while I check on the rest of the Senior Staff?" She asked, politely.
He hadn't been called Chief in his previous postings, but knew it seemed to be customary to use that term for his position when on a Starbase.
"Who am I to fly in the face of tradition, Chief will work. Nice to meet you Commander."
As it appeared he wouldn't be staying on the Ops Deck for the time being, he motioned for the Petty Officer currently at the operations station to remain there.
"Lead the way Commander."
"Why don't we go and have a look in on the Science crew first, then you can introduce me to the main Operations staff and work our way around. I am new to the station and sometimes it's just best to dive in." Ashe replied. "Better for you to lead, I'm still getting my bearings."
"As you wish. Science than Operations. I haven't been here that much longer, but as the Chief of Operations you have to learn the layout quickly."
It was going to be one of those days where there was little time to stop and take a breather, but in a way he preferred that pace. Especially considering the relative newness of much of the staff. Hopefully this would iron out some of the kinks in the system before they were exposed in a combat situation.
"Lurch lumbered back onto the Control deck with a small tray with a large tea and several Peach Buns as he moved to place it beside Aria.
"Stomach Rang..." Lurch said as he left it for her.
"Thanks Lurch. But I'll pass, I've got far too much to do at the moment. Save me one ok" she said giving him a smile before rushing off into the turbolift with her officers.
Lurch shook his head and quietly groaned before walking off the Control Deck, he had to know she would be back sooner than later.
[Marine Conference Theater A]
Wilhelm watched the door to the conference room open hearing a stern "ATTENTION ON DECK!" from Otto as he walked in. Seeing his three Battalion commanders, all the Company and Razor Squadron commanders and all the Platoon leaders. Moving up the stage and to the podium he stood for a moment looking at his officers then began, "As you were." Wilhelm said.
"Marines it's time to go to work. The next week or so is going to be hard on all of us with this festival."
"Starting off, Razor Squadrons," Wilhelm said looking at the two Marine Squadron commanders, "You'll be running the normal 'Finger Four' patrols close into the station, and as normal with another flight on 'Ready Five'. In the case of an emergency all Razors will scramble as normal under control of Ops Flight Control and Starfighter Command."
"Now for the rest of you home wreckers." Wilhelm said with a grin as the lights came down and a holograph of the station came up. "We are tasked, as always, with Station defense and backing up Security. As usual, every patrol activated will report into the Security Shift Commander. We are doubling the guard on all critical areas, including the embarkation points in the Outer Docking Ring and the Inner Dock. Also we'll keep up with the Dock Inspectors and add more personnel as necessary to maintain coverage."
Wilhelm continued on with the holograph zooming into the Main Concourse and different celebration and major public areas. "As a precaution one Company for each shift will be outfitted in full riot gear and held at this assembly area off limits to the public." Wilhelm said as a spot centrally located yet out of the way lit up. Our Roving Patrols are also being doubled and will function as usual. During the main events, two man sniper teams will take up concealed positions at different areas to maintain overwatch."
"Command and Control will be Ops and here of course. We are also setting up a substation in this empty cargo bay adjacent to the Concourse. Our Medic Unit will be based out of there as well to backup the Station's EMS personnel."
"This of course leads us to our Rules of Engagement. ALL energy and particle weapons will be set on STUN! You can keep your TR backups but you better not use it unless you absolutely need it, and NO RPGs!" wilhelm said slightly glaring at Otto. "In the event we do need to engage an enemy it absolutely needs to be aimed fire. Any Marine caught spraying the crowd will have to answer to me personally, and if they survive the experience possible charges." Wilhelm said with as much command authority as he could muster. "All your specific duty assignments will be uploaded to your PADDS at the end of this briefing. Questions?"
"On a more pleasant note, all training activities are suspended uantil the end of the festival, and may you have fun while off duty!" Wilhelm said, "DISMISSED!" Wilhelm said and watched the troops file out.
"Wilhelm to Mabrade. Twenty First Marines are in the game."
